As the oldest and largest animal welfare agency in its state, the non-profit Kentucky Humane Society rates a superlative four stars on Charity Navigator. It relies on private donations to continue its work caring for and placing thousands of unwanted cats and dogs annually and “accepts any cat and dog in need, regardless of health, background, breed and temperament.”
