New Jersey beaches sparkle
It sometimes shocks people to learn that New Jersey has beautiful beaches. They’re long and flat, great for swimming, with water temperatures in the low 70′s July & August. And the Atlantic has it’s wonderful spectrum of blue and green colors.

Growing up in NYC, the highlight of our summers was 2 weeks at a rental house in one of the beach front towns from Manesquan to Long Beach Island (with nights spent at boardwalks.) This was before the Ocean Dumping Ban Act was established in 1988. Back then the water was cloudy and you’d find all kinds of garbage on the beaches (it’s hard to believe, but dumping NYC’s garbage in the ocean was a daily activity up until the 80′s.) When we go to the Jersey shore now and look at the sparkling clean water, it helps us remember that society will move forward again, during this time of moving backwards.
