this story in the Gothamist today floored us. a construction company has removed the nest that has been the home of Pale Male, his babies and other world reknowned and beloved red tailed hawks for over 11 years from the 5th Avenue apartment building where it resided. there’s a wonderful website devoted to recording the birds history, that has taken up the cause to have the nest returned. check out Pale Male’s story and the beautiful photos, and stay tuned to the site for calls to action to help the cause. it’s so amazing these great birds would even nest in our city – we should consider it a blessing!
