Barfight bar fight
Barfight bar fight
while browsing through Michael Simon’s wonderful photos to put together our profile on his work, we spotted this crazy fight photo called “Barfight, Wash D.C.”

we had to find out the deal on this… and he sent over this hilarious story, just as interesting as the pic:
“So I grew up in Richmond, VA and I grew up with a bunch of maniac punk rock and hardcore kids. Our scene was pretty huge with groups from Northern Va and D.C. melting into one another. Some of our pals formed a band called Barfight around 1999, and suddenly became a kind of mascot for all of us in the scene. At a show called The Superbowl of Hardcore in Washington DC, which had a crowd of like 2500+ people, Barfight took the stage and shit went absolutely nuts. The hardcore music scene was particularly wild at the time, and this show was seriously reaching riot proportions. Barfight was playing in masks for reasons still unknown to me, and during the first song my buddy Mike from Philly jumped up on stage, butt ass naked, and started to attack the band members, and then the crowd.
It was all in good fun, eventually he put his clothes back on.”
thanks Michael! (and yes CityRag readers, it looks like ASS has turned into our theme of the week)
